Yesterday was Ditch Your New Year’s Resolutions Day, the day when most people bid their resolutions farewell. Many of us start the New Year with all sorts of good intentions, only to slow down way too quickly.
Does that mean, that’s it for the year?
Any day is a good day for resolutions. It is always a good time to start over and try harder. We are very aware of our strong and weak points and working at the latter can lead to great results. I was always a person who sees great birthday presents for example, only to go back and find them gone (or forget the birthday.) We do not have an unlimited amount of time and sometimes we live as if we did.
I have been crossing many things off my to-do list in the last months, and last weekend we finally went to Fairyland Village, only to see it up for sale. We drove up anyways. The fading remains of what was once a magical place for children, had lost nothing of its charm. Fairyland Village would make a great setting for a horror movie. I did take a few photos along the fence but set off an alarm somewhere in the distance, so I turned around, when a croaky voice behind said, “Hello.”
I looked back and saw absolutely nothing. For a split second I was wondering what the witch in Hansel and Gretel may sound like. A few steps further another “hello”. Not so brave anymore, I turned around and “hello” was one impressive cockatoo. A mocking bird.
The moral of the story is, if we had gone when we found out about it, it would have been open. So call your grandma, apply for that fantastic job, go out and do something with your life.
